‘Show and Tell’ with Aaron Jones: PLA plastics and biodegradation

Explore the latest research on nov­el plastics and bio­de­grad­able tree shel­ters with UCL research­er, Aaron Jones.

In this talk, Aaron will explore the idea of mater­i­als spe­cific­ally designed to have life­like prop­er­ties that respond to forest eco­sys­tems, examin­ing how we can devel­op PLA (poly­lact­ic acid) plastics that sense mois­ture, microbes and decay. Through this research, we’re able to cre­ate mater­i­als that bio­de­grade more read­ily in nature, leav­ing less pol­lu­tion and plastic behind.
