Member Masterclass: Moulding with Plaster (Afternoon)

Explore the play­ful­ness of plaster in this explor­at­ive mas­ter­class with artist and ceram­icist, Helen Johan­nessen.

Invest­ig­ate the magic of this quick set­ting mater­i­al, and join us to shape and manip­u­late the mat­ter, pro­du­cing unique and play­ful forms with freshly blen­ded, wet cast­ing plaster. Watch as the liquid hardens, changes and evolves through the dry­ing pro­cess, and ignite your ima­gin­a­tion and senses as we mix and make dif­fer­ent shapes using play­ful moulds, indent­a­tion tech­niques and rota­tion moulding.

Helen Johan­nessen is a pro­fes­sion­al mod­el and mould maker with over 30 years of mak­ing exper­i­ence, work­ing across art, edu­ca­tion and con­sultancy. Her ceram­ic art­work explores the rela­tion­ships between plaster, por­cel­ain, and sur­face — com­bin­ing tech­nic­al skill with a curi­os­ity for how mater­i­als record time, touch, and transformation.
