Member Masterclass: Foam Glass
Discover the alchemy of foam glass with award-winning glass artist Joshua Kerley in this experimental masterclass.
Through the addition of foaming agents, glass will froth and bubble during kiln firing, producing outcomes that are otherworldly and un-glass-like in appearance. Through playful exploration you'll question traditional perceptions of this material, using the combination of foam and solid glass to produce a variety of material samples in various colourways.
Joshua Kerley is an award-winning artist, designer and educator specialising in kiln-glass. He holds a BA in Contemporary Crafts from Falmouth University and an MA in Ceramics & Glass from the Royal College of Art, London, and his work has featured in international exhibitions, including the British Glass Biennale 2026, and publications Crafts Magazine and Neues Glas. He was a Senior Lecturer and Acting Programme Director at the University for the Creative Arts (2019–2026), and continues to teach internationally while working from his studio in rural Wiltshire, UK.
From Monday 16th November to Wednesday 25th November, Joshua will work in our Stratford workshop as our Maker in Residence. Find out more about his residency here.
