Explore the playfulness of plaster in this explorative masterclass with artist and ceramicist, Helen Johannessen.
Investigate the magic of this quick setting material, and join us to shape and manipulate the matter, producing unique and playful forms with freshly blended, wet casting plaster. Watch as the liquid hardens, changes and evolves through the drying process, and ignite your imagination and senses as we mix and make different shapes using playful moulds, indentation techniques and rotation moulding.
Helen Johannessen is a professional model and mould maker with over 30 years of making experience, working across art, education and consultancy. Her ceramic artwork explores the relationships between plaster, porcelain, and surface — combining technical skill with a curiosity for how materials record time, touch, and transformation.
