Member Masterclass: Bog Oak with Silver Inlay (Afternoon)
Join this event
Ballot open until 18th January 23:59
Delve into the tactile process of silver inlay with established jeweller Sarah King, and transform a piece of generational bog oak into a pendant of your own design.
In this masterclass, you'll learn how to apply pique dot inlay using silver wire, revealing beautiful contrasts within the bog oaks dark grain. Using accessible tools and techniques, together we'll craft unique jewellery and small objects whilst discussing the unique properties of Bog Oak, a wood shaped by millennia underground.
You’ll leave this masterclass with a finished silver inlay pendant and a deeper understanding of how traditional craft processes can be adapted for contemporary making.
Sarah King is an established jeweller, who specialises in mixing precious and non-precious materials to make sculptural and tactile pieces. She has taught specialist classes in plastics, wood and silver jewellery for over 20 years at Central St Martins, Morley College and Forge. Image Courtesy of Sarah King.
