Make Merry: Woven Baubles (Morning)

Get in the cheer­ful craft­ing spir­it with Tabara N’Diaye from La Bas­ketry.

Join us to explore tra­di­tion­al twin­ing bas­ketry tech­niques, and learn to make joy­ous hand-craf­ted fest­ive dec­or­a­tions using col­our­ful rolls of twine. Twin­ing is an ancient bas­ket weav­ing meth­od, where two wefts are twis­ted and woven through stakes to cre­ate a struc­ture. Togeth­er, we’ll util­ise this tech­nique to cre­ate bright baubles with intric­ate pat­terns for you to take home (or, in the true fest­ive spir­it, for you to gift-on to a friend). No exper­i­ence or skill neces­sary, all welcome!

Tabara N’Diaye is a cre­at­ive design­er, author, and the founder of La Bas­ketry, a vibrant life­style brand born from a pas­sion for hand­woven home­ware and accessor­ies. Each piece is craf­ted in col­lab­or­a­tion with female artis­ans in Tabara’s nat­ive coun­try of Seneg­al, and is driv­en by a mis­sion to redefine bas­ket-mak­ing as fun and access­ible. Through this work, Tabara has fostered a com­munity of like­minded bas­ket enthu­si­asts through innov­at­ive pro­jects, cre­at­ive think­ing and enga­ging workshops.

We are using a bal­lot sys­tem to book tick­ets for these masterclasses. The bal­lot is open for a lim­ited time: from Monday 17^th Novem­ber until Sunday 23^rd Novem­ber at 23:59 Enter­ing the bal­lot means that you’ve entered into a draw for the oppor­tun­ity to book a tick­et. From Monday 24^th Novem­ber onwards, suc­cess­ful entrants will be auto­mat­ic­ally booked onto the event and sent an event con­firm­a­tion email. If you can no longer attend please can­cel your place so someone else can be booked on. Unfor­tu­nately, the bal­lot may be over­sub­scribed, so enter­ing it doesn’t guar­an­tee that you’ll be offered tickets. Once tick­ets are fully booked, we will noti­fy every­one and offer the oppor­tun­ity to join the wait­ing list.
