Mini Bandsaws

A band­saw is a power saw with a long, sharp blade con­sist­ing of a con­tinu­ous band of toothed met­al stretched between two or more wheels to cut material. 

Our mini band­saws are used prin­cip­ally in wood­work­ing, but may cut a vari­ety of mater­i­als includ­ing plastics. The main advant­age of the mini band­saw is the abil­ity to cut irreg­u­lar or curved shapes in very small pieces of work.

Some of our machines are con­nec­ted to spe­cif­ic extrac­tion that is not suit­able for metals of plastics. Please check with a tech­ni­cian before cut­ting any mater­i­al that is not wood.

Bam­boo can­not be used on this machine. Check labelling on spe­cif­ic machines are suit­able for the mater­i­al you are using, as some are for wood only.

Suited to cut­ting wood, met­al and plastics for small and fine applic­a­tions and projects.

Cut­ting sheet mater­i­al or square stock for small com­pon­ents, mod­els or small pieces to be attached to lar­ger objects.

To get trained on this tool, drop into the work­shop dur­ing our open­ing hours and ask a tech­ni­cian for a tool train­ing. Please note that the avail­ab­il­ity of train­ing depends on wheth­er a suit­ably exper­i­enced tech­ni­cian is free at the time of your vis­it. We may ask you to come back at anoth­er time. 

Once you have com­pleted a tool train­ing, you will be able to drop into our work­shop dur­ing open­ing hours to use this tool. Please note that access to this tool depends on wheth­er a suit­ably trained tech­ni­cian is avail­able at the time of your visit.
