In this masterclass, artist and designer Lauren MacDonald will teach the fundamentals of botanical textile dyeing with dyestuffs sourced from household food waste.  We’ll go over some basic notes on materials, process and best practice, as well as three recipes for botanical food waste dyes.

Public Open Day: TRANSFORMATION

Save the date for a Saturday Extravaganza on the theme of TRANSFORMATION. From materials that change states, structures, states or colours, and with meta-materials, metamorphosis, forensic science and face recognition; we will explore the mutation, alteration, and transfiguration of materials. As always, the Institute of Making will be open to the public on the day, giving visitors the opportunity to have a glimpse of the Materials Library and its wondrous collection of stuff.
