How to access this tool

Drop-in use

Drop into the workshop during our opening hours to use this tool, but ask a technician if you need any training first.

Key information

Yellow tools require further training. Training will be available either in the form of a bookable tool training session, or by dropping into the space and making an arrangement with a technician.

A rotary tool is a handheld power tool used for grinding, sanding, honing, polishing, or machining material (typically metal, but also plastic or wood). Depending on the application required, there are many types of attachment that can be inserted into the rotary tool. Some of our rotary tools have flexible shafts to make them easier to get into tight working spaces.

Please note

This tool cannot be used to cut harmful materials or anything that may cause harmful fumes.

What can I use this tool for?

Rotary tools have a number of uses. These include de-burring metal after cutting it, smoothing welded or brazed joints, polishing and grinding or cutting small workpieces.

What training do I need to use this tool?

The induction for the rotary tool is by arrangement with a technician.

If you would like to use this tool, come to the workshop during opening hours and work out a time to be inducted with one of the technical staff.
