PVA Removal Stations

How to access this tool

Drop-in use

Drop into the workshop during our opening hours to use this tool, but ask a technician if you need any training first.

Key information

Green tools are our general-use tools. These have either been demonstrated or explained in your New Members Induction, or are safe for use after a demonstration by a technician. Always ask a member of staff before using any green tools for the first time, or if you are not sure how to use these safely.

The Ultimaker PVA Removal Station dissolves support material quickly and effectively, which means no support needs to be removed by hand. This is especially useful for projects with complicated geometry that are harder to remove supports from, or those which require a lot of support.

The 3D printed part is put into a water-filled a chamber and driven at high speed by a magnetic rotor. It can be speed-controlled depending on the fragility of the printed part. Every two minutes, the rotor changes direction to push water evenly against the model.

The removal station also has a rinsing basket to keep prints in place and completely submerged while dissolving.

Please note

It is important to rinse the station out with water once it is finished and leave it to dry to avoid saturation.
