Hand Belt Sanders

A hand belt sander is a hand­held and ver­sat­ile tool for sand­ing woods. It con­sists of a con­tinu­ous abras­ive belt that is driv­en by an elec­tric motor.

Belt sanders should not be used to remove large sec­tions of material.

This machine can only be used with woods (no green wood).

Ensure the sander is con­nec­ted to an extrac­tion sys­tem when in use.

Belt sanders are designed to quickly remove mater­i­al in order to flat­ten rough tim­ber, level uneven sur­faces and to shape and round mater­i­al. They can remove mater­i­al quickly and are nor­mally used only for the begin­ning stages of the sand­ing pro­cess to rough out the sur­face before using finer sand­ing techniques.

Hand belt sanders are par­tic­u­larly use­ful for pro­jects that are unusu­al shapes that are hard to access with a stat­ic machine.

To get trained on this tool, drop into the work­shop dur­ing our open­ing hours and ask a tech­ni­cian for a tool train­ing. Please note that the avail­ab­il­ity of train­ing depends on wheth­er a suit­ably exper­i­enced tech­ni­cian is free at the time of your vis­it. We may ask you to come back at anoth­er time. 

Once you have com­pleted a tool train­ing, you will be able to drop into our work­shop dur­ing open­ing hours to use this tool. Please note that access to this tool depends on wheth­er a suit­ably trained tech­ni­cian is avail­able at the time of your visit.
