Member Masterclass: Electro Colour (Afternoon)
Member EventsPast event
Discover the electrifying intersection of science and art in this hands-on masterclass with Unit Lab.
Design and make your own custom circuit board using copper tape and solder, and then use it to make vivid, one of a kind prints with electricity and cabbage juice, dubbed Electro Colour by Unit Lab.
This innovative printing process uses copper tape, solder and red cabbage juice (a natural pH indicator) to reveal vibrant patterns as electricity runs through the paper. As the current flows, water is split into hydrogen and oxygen, shifting the pH and transforming cabbage-soaked paper into a canvas of electric colour. As a result, you'll leave with your own beautifully unique Electro Colour print.
Unit Lab is the creative partnership of Cindy Strobach and Mike Vanis. Based in South London, they design objects, installations and workshops that bridge science, art and the natural world. Previous projects include a playground that incorporates perspective and distortion (Mirror Shape Play), a ruler that measures both length and weight (Gravity Ruler, and a collection of plates that capture frequency patterns (Frequency Plates).
