Stephen Ward

Stephen’s skill at manifesting other’s ideas into physical form generated a career in model making, working closely with architects and designers. Stephen joins the Institute of Making with a wealth of technical expertise, from traditional woodworking to digital fabrication, and uses a broad range of materials to create his models. An experienced CAD user, he regularly designs models with hundreds of individual parts which has made him an excellent 3D problem solver. Stephen studied Model Making and Special Effects at the University of Hertfordshire and makes oil paintings for a hobby. His portraiture was published in the book Portraits for NHS Heroes which celebrates the bravery of frontline workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
