Key information

Yellow tools require further training. Training will be available either in the form of a bookable tool training session, or by dropping into the space and making an arrangement with a technician.

Milling is the process of removing material from a workpiece by moving a rotary cutter along different axes. It is one of the most commonly used processes for machining objects to precise tolerances.

Our 3 axis mills are usually used for machining custom parts out of different metals, but they can also be used for some woodworking applications.

Please note

Speak to a technician before machining steel, hardened steel or stainless steel.

What can I use this tool for?

Often used to machine flat surfaces, a milling machine can also produce irregular surfaces with great accuracy. You can also use it to create custom prototypes, moulds, and to generally drill, bore and cut slots and pockets. The milling machine can be ideal for adding precision features to an object whose basic shape has already been formed.
