Drop-in use
Drop into the workshop during our opening hours to use this tool, but ask a technician if you need any training first.
Key information
Yellow tools require further training. Training will be available either in the form of a bookable tool training session, or by dropping into the space and making an arrangement with a technician.
A bandsaw is a power saw with a long, sharp continuous blade of toothed metal stretched between two or more wheels that is used to cut different materials.
What can I use this tool for?
The bandsaw is an essential and very versatile machine in the workshop and is the starting point of many projects. It is used to cut wood and plastics down to size and can make straight or irregular cuts.
What training do I need to use this tool?
General use of the bandsaw is covered in the New Members Induction. You must demonstrate competence to a member of staff upon first use. Do not hesitate to ask a member of staff before using the bandsaw if you require a refresher after your induction.
