Make Merry: Woven Baubles (Afternoon)
Past event
Get in the cheerful crafting spirit with Tabara N’Diaye from La Basketry.
Join us to explore traditional twining basketry techniques, and learn to make joyous hand-crafted festive decorations using colourful rolls of twine. Twining is an ancient basket weaving method, where two wefts are twisted and woven through stakes to create a structure. Together, we'll utilise this technique to create bright baubles with intricate patterns for you to take home (or, in the true festive spirit, for you to gift-on to a friend). No experience or skill necessary, all welcome!
Tabara N’Diaye is a creative designer, author, and the founder of La Basketry, a vibrant lifestyle brand born from a passion for handwoven homeware and accessories. Each piece is crafted in collaboration with female artisans in Tabara's native country of Senegal, and is driven by a mission to redefine basket-making as fun and accessible. Through this work, Tabara has fostered a community of likeminded basket enthusiasts through innovative projects, creative thinking and engaging workshops.
