Public Open Day: Faking It Public Open Day: Faking It Public Open Day: Faking It

Saturday 21 October 2017 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Free, no booking required.

Location: Institute of Making, Malet Place, UCL, London, WC1E 7JE Map

Just drop in from 1pm, gates close at 5pm.

Join the Institute of Making for an extravaganza of materials and making around the theme of Faking It. We will look at everything from 'masquerading materials' to painting in virtual reality with the experts from UCL's Immersive Virtual Environments Laboratory

Meanwhile, in the Fake Over section, use our tools, tricks and tips to make wigs and watch expert prosthetics at work. Explore hidden worlds of illusion, counterfeiting, imitation culture and secretive objects, including fool-worthy Shabtis from the Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology. Or just BBQ your own Quorn party sausage.

We will be taking over the street outside the Institute of Making, filling it with demonstrations - including the craft of drag by the talented Charity Kase - and making stations, and bringing our most misleading and mysterious materials out of the shadows.
