The new Workshop Technician will be hired on a fixed-term contract that will run until the end of December 2026. They will be part of a team of technicians who are responsible for the day-to-day supervision, administration and health and safety of our workshops. The post-holder will also be administratively responsible for the management of our ceramics areas on both of our locations.
The post-holder should have excellent people skills and be prepared to encourage and guide users with a wide range of competencies and maturity, from beginners to experts. They should be approachable, comfortable engaging with staff and students in discussion, prepared to work with sketches and preliminary drawings, able to advise users on modifications, alternatives, and further developments of their ideas, and support a wide range of making techniques.
The post-holder will also be required to organise and carry out regular inspections, undertake and record the maintenance of the equipment, and liaise with suppliers when repairs are required.
