Volunteer Researcher/Writer(s) Wanted

02 June 2011

We are seeking materials enthusiasts from any background to partake in the important role of preparing the Materials Library (to be housed in the Institute of Making) for its public interface. Our aim is to bring our vast materials collection to life through accurate, well-researched, and authored content that will fuel further fascination for the already-inspiring collection. In order to achieve this vision, we’re in search of a few good Researchers/Writers to work one day a week over the coming months.

If you're excited about materials, and you’d like to develop your materials science expertise, this may be the opportunity for you.

Duties
As the Researcher/Writer, your job will involve getting to know each item within the materials library collection. You’ll do this through online research, a visit to the library, hands-on interaction with the collection itself, and/or by conducting interviews with the Institute’s directors. Once you’ve done the research, you’ll then be asked to write-up a description for each material, based on your findings.

Time commitment
We’re ideally seeking volunteers able to commit one day a week over the coming months. Working days/hours are flexible.

What you get
In return for your time, we’ll give you the opportunity to develop your research, interview and writing skills in a vibrant, positive and creative multi-disciplinary team environment. Note: this is currently an unpaid role.
