Kevlar® thread is strong and heat resistant. It is used in the manufacture of protective  and fire retardant clothing as well as other heavy duty sewing needs. It is said to be 2.5 times stronger than nylon and polyester. However, Kevlar® thread is limited by the colour choices and can only be found in natural yellow or black.

The material Kevlar® is made from combiing phenylediamine with terephthaloyl chloride which results in polyamide threads. These threads are further refined to make the Kevlar® thread and woven cloth.
