Kevlar® thread is strong and heat resistant. It is used in the manufacture of protective and fire-retardant clothing as well as other heavy duty garments. It is said to be 2.5 times stronger than nylon and polyester. However, with Kevlar® thread you get a limited colour choice as it can only be found in natural yellow or black.
The material Kevlar® is made from combing phenylediamine with terephthaloyl chloride which results in polyamide threads. These threads are further refined to make the Kevlar® thread and woven cloth.
