Injection mould polymers are often used as the starting material in the manufacturing of plastic objects. These polymers are fed into a heated barrel where they melt and are forced into a mould cavity where the material hardens upon cooling. This process is used for manufacturing a wide variety of objects, from really small component parts (i.e. bottle caps) to entire parts of cars (i.e. bumpers or body panels). The process is generally very fast and is used to produce a large number of identical units with high precision.
