Public Open Day: Slime Public Open Day: Slime Public Open Day: Slime

Saturday 24 March 2018 1:00pm - 5:00pm

Free, no booking required.

Location: Institute of Making, Malet Place, UCL, London, WC1E 7JE Map

Join the Institute of Making for an extravaganza of materials and making around the theme of Slime.

For one day only, the Institute will be transformed into a state-of-the-art slime lab, with ingredients and accessories to allow everyone to make the slime of their dreams. Once mixed and styled, test your new precious sample at our Slime Olympics; could yours be the stickiest, slipperiest or stringiest slime of them all? We will provide a purpose-built arena and measuring equipment to test any slime made on the day or brought from home.

Our open day will explore everything slime including hands-on making, molecular chemistry, the psychology of disgust, slimes in biology, and oozy gooey foods. The event will pay tribute to a brave new generation of Slime Entrepreneurs, selling slimes on Instagram with staggering popularity, as well as exciting research on the power of algae. We will be taking over the street outside the Institute of Making, filling it with demonstrations and making stations.

Free, open to all, drop in from 1pm, gates close at 5pm.
