Tuesday 27 November 2018 10:00am - 5:00pm

From Tuesday 27th to Friday 30th November

Concrete artist and maker Leigh Cameron will be using the Institute of Making as his studio and creating surprising concrete pieces.

Members can drop in throughout the week to see how Leigh is getting on, watch him mix up, cast and polish his pieces and have a chance to try it themselves.

Leigh originally trained as a cabinet maker, before discovering concrete and its amazing possibilities whilst renovating a huge 18th Century mass in Southern France.  Following two years of work at Central Saint Martins, he started experimenting with colour and aggregates and to create bespoke mixes to order, as well as challenging his own concrete artworks to take on many different formats. One example of this is extremes in sizes, as Leigh can formulate mixes that allow him to make anything from tiny concrete lego figurines to building-sized work. His extensive knowledge of the material ranges from the earliest concrete known to man to the most cutting edge new discoveries.

Leigh will be cooking up a concrete storm for four days with the Institute of Making, so pop in and be amazed at what is possible with this material and join Leigh to explore and play. Find out how to push the boundaries of this age-old material using his unique and extensively researched formulations of concrete as well as an array of aggregates, pigments, moulds and tools.
