Join Micaella Pedros, social entrepreneur and product designer, to learn how to create joints with her unique technique developed while at the RCA; 'Joining Bottles' is an experimental wood-joining technique using shrunk plastic bottles. With heat, a simple plastic bottle is transformed into a wood bonding material offering a meaningful and accessible way to build functional structures. The masterclass will include demonstrations by Micaella, and participants will learn how to carve as well as the unique technique of bottle joinery to hold different parts together!
Micaella says about her bottle joinery technique:
"Plastic bottles are everywhere around us, which makes it such an accessible and available material. When I discovered its potential to form a join, I was amazed by the fact that anyone can do it. There is something quite satisfying and magical about it. Everyone encounters plastic bottles, and learning about a new way to make use of them inspires people to try it out themselves."
